The Keel-billed Toucan & Toco Toucan 🦜🌿

A little meeting between two colourful birds in the heart of nature. ✨

The inspiration for this artwork began when my friend Marine shared a beautiful wildlife post with me. My eyes were immediately drawn to the cheerful Keel-billed Toucan — such a colourful and distinctive bird with its enormous, vibrant beak.

I loved discovering all the little details: the green, yellow, orange, blue and red colours of its beak, the bright yellow chest, blue legs and the beautiful markings around its eyes and tail.

I spent the day sketching the toucan and adding details to the natural surroundings — tree bark, moss and tiny mushrooms. I realised again that many of my paintings feature two characters together. Perhaps it is because I love the feeling of companionship. 💚

This artwork also reminded me how much there is to learn from nature. I was fascinated to discover that a toucan's large beak isn't only beautiful — it also helps the bird regulate its body temperature. Mother Nature is truly our best teacher.

In this little story, two toucans meet among the trees. They spend some time together, chatting and getting to know one another. Perhaps they will continue on their own journeys afterwards, but their brief meeting has turned an ordinary day into something a little more extraordinary.

May this artwork remind you to appreciate the unexpected connections we make along the way — even the smallest encounters can become beautiful memories. 🌿🦜
